Learn to read the option chain the way experienced traders do. See where open interest builds into support and resistance walls, spot the liquid strikes on the heatmap, and watch PCR and Max Pain update as the picture changes.
Open interest is the number of option contracts currently open at a strike, on the call or put side. Rising OI means fresh positions are being added, falling OI means positions are being closed. Large OI at a strike shows where traders and writers are most committed.
A liquidity heatmap shades each cell in the option chain by how much OI or volume sits there, so the biggest walls stand out at a glance. Darker call cells mark supply and resistance zones, darker put cells mark support zones.
Max Pain is the strike at which option buyers collectively receive the least intrinsic value at expiry, which is also where option writers lose the least. Price often drifts toward it into expiry, though it is a tendency, not a rule.
PCR by OI is total put OI divided by total call OI. A reading above 1 means more put writing (often read as supportive), below 1 means more call writing (often read as heavy). It is one input, not a signal on its own.
No. This is a teaching model that generates a realistic option chain so you can practise reading OI, PCR, Max Pain and liquidity safely. It is not live or historical market data. NiftyWise is educational and not SEBI-registered.
